Its a kind of magic. A divine composition of heavy and light , steel and gold. Held together with a cotton string.

«Menn burde lese fleire bøker skrive av kvinner. Kvinner burde vere stormannsgalne når dei skriv», sier forfatter Brit Bildøen til Morgenbladet (1). Anledningen er essaysamlingen Litterær Salong som ble lansert søndag. Boka er en samling utdrag av tekster skrevet av kvinnelige forfattere som Bildøen mener ikke har fått den oppmerksomheten de fortjener. I innledningen bemerker hun – i følge artikkelen – at mannlige forfattere, når de blir spurt om hvem de har som forbilder, så å si aldri nevner kvinnelige forfattere. Allerede her begynner min lille parallell. Det er ikke så lenge siden, kanskje et års tid, at jeg ble oppmerksom på det: Jeg har hatt en rekke store kunstnerforbilder fra ti-tolvårsalderen og frem til i det siste. Det eneste de har til felles, er at de er menn.

«Eg trur ikkje det kjem av uvilje eller ignoranse. Det er nok tenkesett og samfunnsstrukturar», svarer Bildøen på journalistens spørsmål om hvorfor det er slik at menn har menn som forbilder.
